In a Bethlehem hair salon, the West Bank barrier wall looming outside, Huda and her client Reem chat inconsequentially, just as hairdressers and their customers do the world over. But this is no ordinary salon - Huda is working for the Israeli Secret Service and uses methods that would not shame Sweeney Todd to recruit female informants. After a terrifying entrapment procedure, Reem realises in horror that her life and her family (she has a new-born baby) have been shattered by Huda’s treachery. At this point two-time Oscar-nominated Hany Abu-Assad’s brilliantly scripted and constructed thriller diverges into two parallel threads, interleaving Huda’s interrogation by Hassan of the Palestinian Resistance, following the blowing of her cover, and Reem’s desperate attempts to conceal what has happened from her controlling husband.
